Omicron hazard for children: increased infection

In the Republic of South Africa (RSA), an increase in the number of infections with the Omicron strain has been observed in children under 5 years of age.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from Vaasila Cassat, a spokeswoman for the South African National Institute of Infectious Diseases.

He said the sharp rise in Omicron infections in minors was a cause for concern.

"Currently, people over the age of 60 are admitted to hospitals due to the pandemic. In second place is the appeal for children under 5 years old. This growth is very different from what we have seen before."
