Currently, more than 18 thousand people are infected with monkeypox in the world.

Axar.az reports that this was said by the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

"So far, more than 18,000 cases of infection have been detected in 78 countries," Gebreyesus said.

He noted that more than 70% of infection cases were recorded in Europe, and 25% in America.
