Turkey is now facing a true challenge because of COVID-19 and its strategic and military operations.

Dr. Theodore Karasik senior advisor Gulf State analytics Washington DC told this to Axar.az during his comment on Soylu's resignation:

“The way the government has handled the pathogen crisis is now going to cost political capital I have. It will also tax operations in Syria as well as in Libya. The timing of the resignation could not be out of more critical juncture for Erdogan. Just as with many other countries around the globe the way the lockdown is handled can you be turned into a political game and confrontation both internal to the country and naturally in terms of its foreign affairs.

The changes internal will need to be seen in terms of the successes and failures of the lockdown and the interpretation of these measures is perhaps by province. In the provinces, it will be he in terms of how the countries' provincial Health Providers are ready for this kind of crisis. But of course, there are economic concerns just as with any other lockdown and this Clash of requirements may be handled differently throughout the country. Again a game of This Is Not Unusual phenomena that in the Turkish context it has the potential to become a political football” – he added.
