Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto also congratulated President Aliyev on the holiday.

"It is my pleasure to extend to you my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Republic Day," the message said.

"I avail myself of this opportunity to reaffirm the commitment of the Mexican government to work together to strengthen and expand the bilateral relations for the welfare of our countries and societies," the message said.

"Dear Mr. President, please accept the assurances of my highest consideration," the message said.
