The Southern Gas Corridor is a project of energy security, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

The president made the remarks at the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku Feb. 29.

According to President Aliyev, the work done over the past years will be discussed and objectives for the future will be considered during the meeting. “After last year's meeting, the coordination work among the project participants was carried out successfully and at a high level,” he added.

The foundation of the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) was laid in 2015, the head of state said.

“It [TANAP] plays an important role in the realization of the Southern Gas Corridor which is a project of energy security,” President Aliyev stressed.
