On October 31, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev reviewed the new generation metro trains assembled in Baku by the "Baku Metro" CJSC.
Axar.az reports that this information was released by the President's Press Service.
the Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev, and the Chairman of the "Baku Metro" Closed Joint-Stock Company, Zaur Huseynov, provided information to the head of state about the trains.
It was reported that under the contract signed between "Global Transport Solutions" LLC and "Baku Metro" CJSC, the delivery of 65 new cars (13 train sets) to Baku Metro is planned during 2024-2026. According to this agreement, 35 cars (7 train sets) are to be produced in 2024, 20 cars (4 train sets) in 2025, and 10 cars (2 train sets) in 2026.
It was emphasized that the "81-765 B/766 B" series train set belongs to the fourth generation in terms of innovations. The cars are produced in accordance with the technical specifications of "Baku Metro" CJSC, and their assembly is organized within Baku Metro. The assembly process is carried out not according to standard projects designated for other metros, but using equipment and systems from leading manufacturers that meet the highest technological standards in Europe. Attention has been paid to ensuring high safety requirements, reliability, longevity, production guarantees, efficiency, and other advantages during the operation of the equipment, taking into account the complex profile of Baku Metro, its technical characteristics, the capital's climate, and geological conditions. In this regard, nine contracts have been signed with European manufacturers to ensure the direct delivery of equipment to Baku. As a result, the assembly of the cars is expected to be completed in Baku, ensuring high-quality standards before being put into operation.
The assembly and fitting of the cars in Baku, as well as the testing procedures, involve a team of 54 people from the manufacturing company being dispatched to Baku Metro. Each new generation train set has end cars designed for 315 passengers and intermediate cars for 329 passengers. The end cars have 38 seats, while the intermediate cars have 44. The doors of the cars are 1400 mm wide, which is 12% wider compared to the previous generation of cars.
The trains feature multifunctional zones for wheelchairs, large cargo, and strollers, microclimate control, video surveillance, interactive passenger information systems, USB ports for mobile devices, and original lighting designs. The cars are hermetically sealed, making them soundproof and providing thermal insulation. Compared to the previous generation, direct connections between cars allow passengers to move along the train easily. Out of the seven trains brought to Baku, the assembly, fitting, and testing of five have been completed. The remaining two trains are scheduled to be put into operation by November 8.
The head of state has inspected the cars assembled in Baku.
It was noted that with the addition of the new trains, the total number of the latest generation cars in Baku Metro's rolling stock has reached 150.
