Iran, US nuclear talks in Oman were a good start

High-stakes nuclear talks between Iran and the United States held in Oman on Friday were a good beginning and will continue

Axar.az reports that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said.

"It was a good start to the negotiations. And there is an understanding on continuing the talks. Coordination on how to proceed will be decided in the capitals," Araqchi told Iranian state TV.

Although both sides have signaled openness to reviving diplomacy over Tehran’s long-standing nuclear dispute with the West, Washington is seeking to broaden the scope of the talks to include Iran’s ballistic missile program, its support for armed groups across the region, and what it describes as the regime’s treatment of its own population, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday.

Iranian officials have repeatedly rejected negotiations over their missile program—one of the largest in the region—and insist that Tehran’s right to enrich uranium must be formally recognized. For Washington, however, uranium enrichment on Iranian soil remains a red line.
