India–US trade talks postponed after Trump tariff ruling

India and the United States have rescheduled their meeting on the interim bilateral trade agreement, originally set for February 23, to assess the impact of the US Supreme Court striking down Trump’s tariff hikes.

Axar.az, citing NDTV, reports that the Supreme Court ruled 6‑3 that Trump’s use of emergency powers to impose global tariffs exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

Following the ruling, Trump announced via Truth Social that he would raise worldwide tariffs from 10% to 15%, calling the court decision “anti-American.”

The new date for the trade negotiations will be set after both sides review the implications of this ruling.
