U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken must convince Armenia's Foreign Minister and, through him, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to remove the clause claiming territory from Azerbaijan from the constitution if he wants to achieve results from today’s trilateral meeting between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia and secure a deal before the presidential elections in the U.S.

Axar.az reports that it was stated by political scientist Elkhan Shahinoglu while commenting on the upcoming trilateral meeting in the U.S.

“Both sides have indicated that 80% of the peace agreement text has been agreed upon. The parties are ready to recognize each other's territorial integrity. A significant distance has already been covered. Pashinyan could expedite a positive resolution with just one step. The State Department has called on Pashinyan, and if he can be persuaded to make constitutional changes, the U.S. role in the South Caucasus will increase. Otherwise, today’s trilateral meeting will not differ from past ones,” Shahinoglu added.
