On November 13, Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan held a trilateral meeting.
Axar.az reports that following the meeting, the heads of state of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan signed the "Agreement on Strategic Partnership in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy" between the governments of the three countries.
Afterward, the presidents made speeches.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said:
- Dear Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich,
Dear Shavkat Miromonovich,
Dear friends,
Today is a significant event in the history of relations between Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. These three brotherly countries are elevating their cooperation to a new level. The signing of this agreement is, I would say, a historic event. We are further strengthening brotherly relations between our countries and will actively cooperate in the field of green energy. Additionally, I would say that today's agreement opens new opportunities for cooperation between Central Asia and the Caucasus regions. In essence, the integration processes in Central Asia and the Caucasus, including in transportation, energy, and trade, now allow us to say that these two regions are working synchronously on many issues, including the development of green energy.
We are aware of the significant plans and results already achieved in Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan in the establishment of renewable energy sources. In other words, we are, so to speak, moving in parallel, and the laying of an electricity cable beneath the Caspian Sea is not just cooperation between our three countries but also a broader scale of cooperation.
Yesterday, I spoke at the conference about Azerbaijan's ongoing plans to lay a cable line from the Black Sea to Europe. The technical and economic justification for this project is nearing completion, and with this, we will connect Central Asia, the Caucasus, Europe, the Caspian, and the Black Sea through a unified energy corridor. It is especially gratifying that this agreement is being signed between three brotherly countries that have always been close to each other. Our relations with Uzbekistan reached the level of allied relations this year, and a corresponding agreement was signed. We have been cooperating as strategic partners with Kazakhstan for a long time. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were the first countries to help us in the restoration of Karabakh. The Mirza Ulugh Beg School in Fuzuli and the Kurmangazi Creativity Center are clear evidence of our brotherhood today. I am confident that in the future, we will always be together and support each other.
Dear friends, brothers, I thank Shavkat Miromonovich and Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich for their participation in COP29 and for enriching our event with their presence, valuable thoughts, and messages.
I would like to thank my dear friends once again. I also express my gratitude to the dear friend here today, the Minister of Saudi Arabia, and all our friends from Saudi Arabia. The company "ACWA Power," which I mentioned yesterday, is our good partner and investor, and operates both in Azerbaijan and Central Asia. Therefore, after this ceremony today, there will be another event to expand our cooperation. This will cover the Middle East, Central Asia, the Caspian region, the Caucasus, the Black Sea, and Europe.
Thus, I congratulate us all, and my wish is to witness the swift implementation of this project. Thank you.
Afterward, Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan made their speeches.
Later, a signing ceremony for the "Implementation Program for Cooperation in the Development and Transmission of Green Energy between the Ministries of Energy of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia" took place with the participation of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
After the signing ceremony, a meeting was held between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud.
