Azerbaijan is ready to provide all necessary conditions to host Russia-Ukraine talks in Baku, should both parties express interest.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, in an interview with Germany’s “Berliner Zeitung” newspaper.

He emphasized that Baku has already established itself as one of the diplomatic capitals of the region, having hosted many important international negotiations.

“If our friends and partners (Russia and Ukraine – ed.) want to meet in Baku, we would be happy to host them. Baku is already the diplomatic capital of the entire Caspian region. Talks between Türkiye and Israel were held here. Syria and Israel also negotiated in Baku. Previously, strategic talks between Russia and the US on missile defense systems were held here, as well as Russia-NATO negotiations. In recent times, many other diplomatic events have taken place in Baku.

We are happy to host everyone, but we cannot force anyone. They must reach out to us on their own,” Hajiyev stated.
