Taking into account Azerbaijan's objective and principled stance, a decision has been made to send the black boxes of the Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane, an Embraer 190 that crashed near Aktau, to the Brazilian Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (CENIPA).
Axar.az reports that this information was released by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
The delivery and decoding of the black boxes at CENIPA will be carried out with the direct supervision and participation of Azerbaijani specialists. Additionally, international experts specialized in this field, engaged by Azerbaijan, will also participate in the process. This approach aims to ensure that the investigation is conducted in a fully transparent manner and adheres to international standards.
This step also serves to eliminate any possible doubts regarding the objectivity of the investigation and to enhance the credibility of the results for the international community. The direct involvement of Azerbaijani specialists and the oversight of international experts will further strengthen the comprehensiveness and accuracy of the investigation.
It should be noted that CENIPA is highly equipped with technical capabilities for investigating aviation accidents. The center is outfitted with modern equipment and possesses internationally certified laboratories for data decryption.
For context, it is worth noting that on December 25, an AZAL flight operating the Baku-Grozny route was struck by Russian air defense systems over Grozny’s airspace, sustaining severe damage. As it was denied landing permission, the aircraft diverted towards Aktau but crashed near Aktau airport. Of the 67 people onboard, 38 lost their lives, and 29 survived.
