Saudi Arabia blocks Messi’s short-term league move

Saudi Arabia has not allowed Argentine footballer Lionel Messi to participate in training sessions in the national league ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Axar.az reports that Messi wanted to move to one of the Saudi Arabian clubs during the Major League Soccer (MLS) break to maintain his form before the World Cup. However, the relevant authorities of Saudi Arabia did not approve of the idea of the player coming to compete in the national league for only four months.

It should be noted that on October 23, Inter Miami announced that the contract with Messi had been extended until December 2028.
