Rustam Rahimov has been appointed as the referee for the upcoming “Qarabağ” vs “Neftçi” match to be held on November 9.

Axar.az reports, citing the PFL website, that this will be the first time Rustam Rahimov officiates a derby match.

So far, 30 referees have officiated championship derbies. Aliyar Aghayev has been the most frequent referee, having officiated 13 derbies.

Fariz Yusifov and Khagani Mammadov have each refereed 9 such matches.

There have been two father-and-son pairs who have served as main referees in derbies: Gulaga Jabarov and Rauf Jabarov (2 matches each), Rovshan Ahmadov and Rashad Ahmadov (8 and 3 matches respectively).
