Vernidub arrives in Baku for Neftchi role

The main candidate for the post of head coach of “Neftchi”, Yuri Vernidub, is already in Baku.

Axar.az reports that he arrived in Azerbaijan from Ukraine at night.

The 59-year-old coach was able to leave his country based on a special permission letter.

The representative of the capital addressed an application to local state bodies for this purpose, and approval was received. Otherwise, Vernidub would have had to wait until the end of January. Ukraine has banned men under the age of 60 from leaving the country due to the war with Russia.

Vernidub, who has not worked anywhere since January of this year, temporarily joined the army and fought in an artillery division, will turn 60 next year on January 22.

It should be noted that the Baku team has been coached by Samir Abasov for the past year. He was dismissed on November 24, the day after a 2:3 defeat to Imishli in the 13th round of the Premier League.
