UEFA fines Qarabag €17,500 over fan chants

The UEFA Disciplinary Committee has fined Azerbaijani club Qarabag FK €17,500 following incidents during a UEFA Champions League group stage Round VII match in Baku against Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt.

Axar.az reports that the sanction was imposed due to chants voiced by fans during the match.

UEFA ruled that the club was responsible for the “transmission of a message not suitable for a sporting event” and for “damaging the reputation of football in general and UEFA in particular.”

Qarabag was also found to have violated ticket control regulations.

The match ended with a 3–2 victory for the home side.
