Our chess player qualified for the 1/4 finals

The return matches of the 1/8 final stage of the Chess World Cup held in Baku were held.

Axarşaz reports that Azerbaijani chess player Nijat Abasov faced the representative of the United Arab Emirates Saleh Salem with black pieces.

As in the first game, Nijat Abasov won in the return game as well. With this, the Azerbaijani chess player qualified for the 1/4 finals of the World Cup for the first time in his career.

His next opponent will be the winner of the pair Jan Nepomnyashi - Santosh Vidit (India).
