European leaders devise plan to counter Trump’s pressures

European leaders have prepared a plan to stand up to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats and pressures during a working dinner held in Brussels.

Axar.az reports that this was reported by The New York Times.

The newspaper stated that after Trump threatened Europe with economic strikes, humiliated its politicians, and criticized its values, European leaders developed a plan.

The plan envisages responding coolly to any future provocations by the U.S. president and threatening retaliatory measures, such as tariffs.

In addition, they plan to reduce military and economic dependence on Washington.

According to sources, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni suggested continuing dialogue with the U.S. president during the meeting, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz proposed rapid measures to reduce economic dependence on the U.S., and French President Emmanuel Macron said Europe should demonstrate its willingness to stand up to Washington to earn Trump’s respect.

The newspaper described the European leaders’ plan as bold, yet rather abstract.
