Armenian opposition warns army harmed by church reform

The Armenian government’s decision to abolish church service in the army will cause serious damage to the armed forces.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Tigran Abrahamyan, secretary of Armenia’s “I Have Honor” parliamentary faction.

He claimed that church service in the armed forces has played a major role in the moral and psychological condition of troops, relations among soldiers, and in education and upbringing:

“The abolition of this institution in the army will seriously damage the atmosphere within the troops, human relations, and consequently combat effectiveness,” he said.
