Danish PM Frederiksen resigns to initiate coalition talks

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen officially resigned today following a closely contested general election that left her three-party government with only 70 seats, well short of the 90 needed for a majority.

Axar.az reports The Guardian, after meeting with King Frederik X at Amalienborg Palace to initiate the government formation process, Frederiksen transitioned into a caretaker role.

Despite the setback, she remains a primary candidate to lead the next administration, telling supporters she is "ready to take on the responsibility" for another four years.
