Spanish PM’s wife faces corruption charges

Four separate corruption charges have been brought against Maria Begona Gomez Fernandez, the wife of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

Axar.az informs that the information was reported by the newspaper El Pais.

The far-right “Hazte Oir Association” has filed a court petition demanding that she be tried and sentenced to 24 years in prison. She is accused of corruption in the business sector, abuse of power, illicit enrichment, and embezzlement. The plaintiffs are also insisting on a ban preventing her from leaving Spanish territory without special court authorization.

Begona Gomez has denied all allegations and has appealed to the Madrid Provincial Court, requesting that the investigation be closed and the charges dropped. Prime Minister Sanchez has also expressed confidence in the judiciary, stating that time will reveal the truth.
