Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said reports based on documents reaching Russian President Vladimir Putin indicate growing public dissatisfaction in Russia.
Axar.az reports that Zelensky announced this on his Telegram channel.
“I received reports from our intelligence services on their assessment of the internal situation in Russia and on obtaining documents that reach Russia’s leadership. We understand that Putin is rarely presented with completely truthful information without embellishment. However, even the documents that do reach him allow certain conclusions to be drawn,” Zelensky said.
According to him, forecasts contained in the reports suggest that Russians’ dissatisfaction with Putin will continue to grow steadily.
“They have already begun preparing him for the idea that this growth in discontent cannot be stopped and will not plateau by September, when parliamentary elections are scheduled in Russia,” he stated.
Zelensky also said the reports point to a steady decline in support for Russia’s ruling party and a significant rise in protest sentiment across Russian regions.
“We believe these reports do not yet take into account the potential developments of June, July, and August, which will inevitably have an additional impact on the situation in Russia,” he said.
The Ukrainian president added that pressure on Russia over the war will continue to increase and suggested that, over time, it may become necessary to negotiate a peace agreement with “someone else in Russia who is not detached from reality.”
It is noted that the documents referenced by Zelensky were obtained by Ukrainian intelligence.
