A light aircraft has crashed in Russia’s Moscow Region, killing two people.
Axar.az reports, citing TASS, the crash occurred in the Sergiev Posad district northeast of Moscow. The aircraft, a Zlin-42, went into a steep dive while performing a landing approach.
Both people on board — the pilot and the aircraft’s owner — were killed in the crash. One of the victims was identified as Pyotr Tutakin, a distinguished Russian test pilot.
A source in emergency services said pilot error is considered the likely cause of the crash. Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency classified the incident as an air catastrophe, and an investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances and causes of the crash.
