The nationwide blackout in Georgia was caused by work at the Enguri Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) related to previous power outages on July 24 and 25.
Axar.az reports that the Georgian State Electrosystem announced this in a statement on Facebook.
"Following the system failures that occurred across the country on July 24-25, work was carried out at the Enguri HPP. In particular, it was necessary to operate the power system in isolated mode and at frequencies different from the nominal level in order to inspect the plant's equipment. This led to a temporary nationwide power outage," the statement said.
