Cyprus is our national issue. Turkiye has done whatever it has to do within the framework of the guarantor and alliance agreements and will continue to do so in the future.

Axar.az reports Turkish National Defense Minister Hulisi Akar stated this at an event dedicated to the 39th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Minister Akar stated that Turkey and the TRNC have shown at every opportunity that they favour peace, but the steps taken for this peace are not understood, and the extended hand of peace is rejected.

We have done and will continue to do what needs to be done within the framework of guarantee and alliance agreements. On the other hand, we are trying to maintain our relations with Greece effectively. and we continue to extend our hand for peace. We are in favour of peace and negotiations. We are in favour of solving the problems between Turkiye and Greece by peaceful means and methods, but on the other hand, everyone should know that we will not allow either our Cypriot brothers or our own rights to be violated or fail to accomplish.

"However, certain politicians in Greece, unfortunately, sabotage and destroy our efforts and peace initiatives, Sacrificing the rights and interests of the two countries to their conflict is doing. At the same time, these politicians endanger the safety and well-being of their own people with their actions. With their inexplicable love of armament, they continue to do their best to disrupt the peace and stability between the two countries. We have always said that we are in favor of dialogue, but we will not violate our rights and laws," Akar said.
