Firefighters in the city of Zanjan, South Azerbaijan, held a protest.

Axar.az reports that the United Workers' Union provided this information.

The protesters, gathered in front of the Zanjan city municipality building, voiced their discontent over low wages and the failure to meet other legal demands.

Azerbaijani firefighters stated that the sharp difference in wages between Tehran and other provinces is discriminatory against workers in the regions.

Amir Fazli, the head of Zanjan municipality’s fire and safety services, confirmed that the salaries of firefighters in Tehran and Zanjan are different.

"In the matter of setting wages, Tehran has its own regulations, and we can’t do anything about it," he said.
