As long as this unfortunate situation persists, there can be no progress in Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations.

Axar.az reports this was stated by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations, Péter Szijjártó.

"I had a phone conversation with my new Austrian counterpart about the continuous violations of the rights of the Hungarian community in Zakarpattia and Ukraine’s integration efforts.

I highly appreciate Beate Meinl-Reisinger’s willingness to help, but the fact remains that despite the Ukrainian government’s ongoing promises and fine words, it has still not restored the minority rights taken from the Hungarian community since 2015.

As long as this unfortunate situation persists, there can be no progress in Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations.

This is unacceptable and completely contradicts common European rules and values," he wrote on Facebook.
