The U.S. administration has imposed sanctions on three Iranian intelligence officers accused of involvement in the kidnapping and death of former FBI agent Robert Levinson.

Axar.az reports that this was announced by U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

Levinson disappeared in Iran in 2007 after traveling there on a private business trip. While it was initially claimed that he visited Iran for personal reasons, a 2013 journalistic investigation revealed his ties to the CIA. In 2019, the U.S. government offered a $20 million reward for information on his whereabouts.
