Foreign company to be involved in creation of free trade zone

A foreign company will be involved in creation of the free trade zone (FTZ) in the territory of the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Azerbaijan's Alat township, said Taleh Ziyadov, head of the port.

He made the remarks during the first meeting of the working group for creation of the FTZ.

Ziyadov said the creation of the FTZ in the territory of the Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat will contribute to turning the port into a transportation and logistics center in Europe.

"Negotiations have been held with a foreign company that specializes in the planning and management of free trade zones, and it will soon join the creation of the free trade zone in Azerbaijan," he noted.

Ziyadov didn't specify the foreign company's name.

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree March 17, 2016, on measures to create a free trade zone type special economic area in the Alat township of Baku's Garadagh district.
