A baby boy born with two heads has died just hours after a traumatic birth.

The conjoined twins were born at a hospital in Mexico yesterday - sharing the same organs from the neck down.

They hit headlines after stunned relatives shared footage of the pair online.

The newborns are seen wailing as they are held by medics , with tubes leading into their noses.

Jesus Urrutia, the director of clinic 35 at the Mexican Institute of Social Security of the state of Chihuahua, in north-central Mexico, who cared for the tots, confirmed the death and said he would not comment any further.

Authorities have refused to go into any further detail, saying they want to preserve the family's privacy, only confirming that the mother is in "good health."

Doctors said they were looking at a "plan going forward" for the babies before they sadly died.
