President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev sent a congratulatory letter to President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.

On the occasion of May 26 - Independence Day, I heartily congratulate you and the friendly people of Georgia on behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, and send my best wishes.

Today's level of relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, which originates from the will of our people living in conditions of friendship, friendly neighbourliness and harmony for centuries, gives rise to satisfaction. Mutual support and trust, close cooperation, and large-scale regional projects that we implement together are the main factors determining our strategic partnership and alliance.

Today, there are good opportunities for the development and enrichment of our mutually beneficial cooperation, which will serve the prosperity of our countries and the prosperity of our region, and for raising our partnership to a higher level.

I am sure that with our joint efforts, in accordance with the interests of our peoples, we will achieve the strengthening of Azerbaijan-Georgia traditional friendly relations and the further expansion of our effective interaction on both a bilateral and multilateral basis.
