Turkiye may hand over the mediation of peace negotiations for resolving the conflict in Ukraine to Azerbaijan, and Kyiv will not oppose the Baku option.

Axar.az reports that Turkish analyst Engin Özər said this to "RIA Novosti."

"It is possible that Turkiye will pass all agreed points of the Istanbul negotiations to the Azerbaijani side and ensure that the negotiations take place in Baku with diplomatic support. Moscow and Kyiv will not oppose the Baku option," he stated.

According to him, the mediator country approved by Moscow will hold a very strong position in the international arena after the war ends:

"Therefore, Moscow will not want to give this 'gift' to a NATO member country. Most likely, the Russian administration will prefer a country that is a member of the Non-Aligned Movement to gain such prestige."
