Trump eliminated USAID because it uses too many financial resources, which ultimately go abroad. He wants to reconsider where American money and funding are going and identify priorities. By the way, Azerbaijan also refused to allow the American agency to operate in its territory last year.

Axar.az reports that this was stated by Russian political analyst Mikhail Belyaev in an interview with Moscow-Baku.

"We can see how Azerbaijan and Georgia are distancing themselves from Western pressure, stating that they will not sacrifice their national interests for it. Armenia, on the other hand, is doing the opposite. Azerbaijan understood this principle quite early—most likely due to its leader, who took a clear-sighted view of the situation and came to the realization of where and with whom it needs to be. Georgia played with the West and realized that it was not ready to compromise its national interests. It must be said, there were not the most favorable notes during this "melody" for the Georgian people. This also led to some awareness and sobering up. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) officially declares humanitarian goals. In the end, these goals were merely a cover. In the countries that the U.S. "helped" through USAID, America was actually imposing its influence, including on the mindset of the people. Through this tool, by gaining the favor of society, they often pursued other objectives in these countries," he stated.

Belyaev also noted that the formula for the prosperity of the South Caucasus lies primarily in having good and constructive relations with neighbors, in mutually beneficial economic cooperation, in understanding common challenges and jointly fighting them, and in solving all problems together without the involvement of non-regional states:

"The most effective format for interaction in this case looks like 3+3 (three Transcaucasian countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and their three large neighbors – Russia, Turkiye, Iran). For this, Armenia should move towards unblocking transport and economic connections, rather than seeking Western support to implement the "Crossroads of Peace" project. The countries of the South Caucasus are natural allies and partners in economics and politics. Anything artificially created will not have a positive result."
