The term of office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Vladanka Andreeva, ends on January 6.
Axar.az informs, citing APА, Dmitriy Shlapachenko, a Ukrainian national who currently serves as the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, has been appointed to replace Andreeva. His name has not yet been officially announced.
Carolina Azevedo, Chief of Communications and Results Reporting in the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO), told APА that an official announcement regarding the appointment of the new resident coordinator will be made. She noted that the UN Secretary-General’s press office will disclose the name of the new resident coordinator closer to the date he assumes office.
According to Azevedo, the new UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan will begin performing his duties on July 1, 2026. Until then, Vladanka Andreeva will continue to serve in the position on an interim basis.
Dmitriy Shlapachenko has been serving as the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan since 2021 and has extensive experience within the UN system, including long-term management and development programs in various countries. It is reported that he will assume his new post in Azerbaijan after completing his mandate in Turkmenistan, starting in the summer of next year.
Vladanka Andreeva began her tenure as the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan on July 1, 2021.
