MES warns public about severe weather conditions

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has appealed to the population regarding the expected weather conditions.

Axar.az reports that the ministry called on the population to strictly follow the relevant safety rules.

It was noted that since the cold weather has led to a significant increase in the use of gas and electric heating devices, fire safety rules should be strictly observed when using these devices. Faulty, non-standard, or homemade heating devices should not be used, the electrical network should not be overloaded, and heating devices in working condition should not be left unattended.

At the same time, especially in mountainous areas, citizens should not leave their settlements in frosty and snowy weather as much as possible, and if such a need arises, they should inform their relatives in advance about the direction of travel, ensure that the technical characteristics of the car are in accordance with the season, and have sufficient fuel reserves. It is recommended to avoid places with a risk of avalanches, including steep slopes, and return to the settlement before dark.

In addition, it is recommended to stay away from light-structured and temporary structures, buildings, and billboards during strong winds, and not to stand under electric poles and wires, or tall trees. Also, considering the difficulties caused by strong winds in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules should be observed especially strictly in windy weather.

It should be noted that, according to the National Hydrometeorological Service, the weather in the country in the coming days will be rainy, with snowfall mainly in mountainous and foothill regions, which will be intense in some places. Temperatures will drop significantly, and strong winds will blow occasionally in some places.
