Deepfake fake statement circulates on Facebook

A statement prepared using “deepfake” technology and not reflecting reality on behalf of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been published on several Facebook accounts.

Axar.az reports that the Media Development Agency informed about this.

It was stated that this example of disinformation, prepared with the help of artificial intelligence and aimed at misleading public opinion, aims to seize the personal data of citizens and cause them financial damage.

It should be noted that recently, cases of cyber fraud with similar content have been frequently encountered on the Facebook platform.

"In this regard, we call on the owner of the Facebook platform, Meta, to take prompt measures to remove harmful content.

We call on society to trust information provided only by official sources, journalists, and public activists to always demonstrate principledness in such cases, and to be vigilant in an environment where fake and false information-based campaigns and the trend of creating content using "deepfake" technologies are gaining momentum," the statement said.
