Trump moves to withdraw 1,000 troops from Syria

The U.S.-led international coalition against ISIS has begun evacuating the Qasrak base in the countryside of Al-Hasakah.

Axar.az reports that, according to Syrian TV, early Saturday, a U.S. convoy of more than 20 empty trucks and military vehicles entered from Iraq toward the base to carry out the withdrawal.

Qasrak base is located between Tal Tamr and Tal Baydar, south of the M4 highway. This move follows announcements that the United States plans to withdraw approximately 1,000 troops from Syria over the next two months, as the Trump administration considers the U.S. military presence in Syria no longer necessary.

Earlier, the U.S. had also withdrawn forces from Al-Tanf base, transferring control to Syrian authorities, while relocating some personnel to Jordan to continue operations from there.

Syrian government forces have taken over Al-Shaddadi base following coordination with the United States, marking a continued drawdown of American military positions in northeastern Syria.
