30 month sentence for doctor in Perry ketamine case

A Los Angeles doctor charged with providing ketamine to actor Matthew Perry weeks before his fatal overdose has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.

Axar.az, citing CBS, reports that Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who pleaded guilty in July to illegally distributing ketamine, was also fined $5,600 and immediately taken into custody.

Plasencia admitted to supplying Perry with 20 vials of ketamine, lozenges, and syringes about a month before the actor was found dead in his home jacuzzi in October 2023. The medical examiner ruled Perry died from “acute effects of ketamine,” with drowning and heart disease as contributing factors.
Plasencia also recruited another doctor, Mark Chavez, to help provide the drugs.

Several others — including Chavez, “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha, Perry’s former assistant, and a middleman — are awaiting sentencing in December and early 2026.
