Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has cancelled his scheduled meetings in the German Bundestag over the adoption of the resolution on recognition of the events of 1915 as “Armenian genocide”.
The head of state has waived his scheduled meeting in the Bundestag as well as meeting with members of the Germany-Azerbaijan friendship group, according to Turkish media.
Chairman of Caspian Strategy Institute’s (HASEN) Senior Advisory Board Halil Akinci said that by canceling the meetings, Ilham Aliyev gave the message that injustice will not remain unanswered.
“On the other hand, such a step from Mr. Aliyev is a response to the double standards of the West, who are silent at the Khojaly genocide of the near past. Ilham Aliyev also showed that Azerbaijan is always with Turkey,” stressed Akinci.
