The Turkish city of Gaziantep is expected to be twinned with Azerbaijan's capital, Baku, Fatma Sahin, head of the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.

Axar.az informs, citing Repоrt, Sahin recalled that more than 20 Turkish and Azerbaijani cities have already been declared sister cities and said talks are underway to include Gaziantep in this list. She noted that the issue was even discussed during her visit to Baku last year for the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29).

"In Baku, we experienced Azerbaijani cuisine, your aromatic teas, and rich culinary culture. We also admired the beautiful handicrafts. Most likely, our sisterhood will be established with Baku," she said.

Sahin added that Gaziantep Municipality has internationally recognized, award-winning initiatives and expressed readiness to implement joint projects to promote Azerbaijani culture, traditions, and cuisine based on this experience.
