Gunnut operation, as I said, we did not want to overdo it. But after that, journalists from the already overthrown government of Armenia went and took our new posts, posted them on the Internet, shared them, and then there was an uproar in Armenia. Then I said, why should we hide? I instructed the chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to inform you, send a film crew, and the film crew went and saw those heights.

Axar.az reports that the statement came from President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Azerbaijani Television on May 10 during his visit to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The head of state said that the Gunnut operation showed the potential of the Nakhchivan Army and the Azerbaijani Army:

“Soldiers of the Nakhchivan Army - both special forces and other units - took an active part in the Second Karabakh War and gave martyrs, showed great self-sacrifice. You know that special groups were brought to Baku from Nakhchivan. At the same time, I must say that I can already say that some of the weapons and ammunition in the Nakhchivan Army were brought to Baku and sent to the frontline.

Now we provide stocks of those weapons, but it happened. Therefore, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has a great role in protecting the borders of the republic, in general, in strengthening the military potential of our country, and Nakhchivan will always be adequately protected."
