WhatsApp to limit messages sent to unknown contacts

Developers of the WhatsApp messenger intend to limit the number of messages that platform users and business accounts can send to contacts without receiving feedback, in order to strengthen anti-spam measures.

Axar.az reports that the social platform itself shared this information.

In the near future, all messages sent to unknown contacts will be counted toward a new monthly limit. The point is that once the sender receives at least one reply, this limit is lifted. Although the exact limits have not yet been announced, since the company is testing various options, the messenger will warn users and businesses when they are close to the defined limit. This is intended to prevent the automatic blocking of future messages.

According to available information, this innovation will begin to roll out in test mode in several countries in the coming weeks. The new mechanism is primarily aimed at preventing mass spam messages sent by some business accounts and individuals.
