Indonesia restores access to Musk's Grok, lifting ban

Indonesia has lifted its ban on Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok, allowing the service to resume operations after X Corp pledged to strengthen compliance with national laws and prevent misuse.

Axar.az, citing NBC, reports that the ban, imposed three weeks ago over concerns about AI-generated sexualized images, made Indonesia the first country to block Grok entirely.

Authorities said access is being restored on a conditional basis and under strict supervision, stressing that oversight will continue. Governments and regulators across Europe and Asia have criticized Grok over sexualized and deepfake content, with several opening investigations.

Similar temporary bans in Malaysia and the Philippines were also lifted after X promised improved safety measures.
