Amazon Inc. announced on Wednesday it will be changing the name of its advertising video on demand (AVOD) service IMDb TV to Amazon Freevee on April 27.

Axar.az reports that the company explained it decided to rename the service to give the users a better understanding of its purpose. IMDb TV was founded in 2019 in collaboration with the Amazon-owned Internet Movie Database (IMDb) and was initially named IMDb Freedive.

"We're looking forward to building on this momentum with an increasing slate of inventive and broadly appealing Originals, and are excited to establish Freevee as the premier AVOD service with content audiences crave," Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said in a statement.
