NASA translates full-color images captured by the telescope

The sonification you hear in this video basically scans the Carina Nebula image from left to right. All of the sounds are vibrant and full, representing the detail in this massive, gaseous cavity that looks like a galactic mountain range. Brighter areas in the image are louder, while the vertical position of light also shows the frequency of sound.

Axar.az reports that JWST also captured two views of the Southern Ring Nebula in both near-infrared light (left) as well as mid-infrared light (right), and each of them has been translated to sound. The colors in these images were mapped to pitches of sound, or in other words, the frequencies of light were converted directly to frequencies of sound. If you just can’t get enough, NASA’s Perseverance rover captured these sounds of Mars.
