Apple has halted sales of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and iPhone SE (2022) models in official European stores in compliance with new European Union legislation. Initially, these models were planned to remain on sale until the release of the 17th series.
Axar.az informs that this information was reported by MacRumors.
The main reason is the presence of the "Lightning" port in these iPhone models. Starting January 2025, new regulations in the European Union will come into force, requiring manufacturers to sell only smartphones equipped with USB-C ports.
Apple has already introduced two new iPhone series with USB-C ports and updated its accessories. However, older models were still available for sale. The company has decided not to re-release these models with the new port and has simply discontinued their sales.
In addition to iPhone models, certain "Magic" accessories without USB-C ports have also been removed from the European market. Nevertheless, sales of the iPhone 14 and SE (2022) models continue in markets outside the EU, such as the U.S. Experts note that as these devices become scarcer, their prices may increase.
In spring 2025, a new iPhone SE model with a USB-C port is expected to be introduced. This device will adopt the design of the iPhone 14 but will be powered by the "iPhone 16" processor.
The iPhone 17 series will be launched in the fall. Rumors suggest that this lineup will be one of the most exciting innovations of recent years. In particular, the iPhone 17 Air model is drawing attention. It is reported that this model will feature an ultra-thin design and lack a physical SIM card slot.
