Khamenei offers clemency to over 2,000 convicts

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of more than 2,000 convicts in Iran.

Axar.az informs, citing IRNA, on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei approved a request from Iran’s Judiciary chief, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei, to grant amnesty, sentence reductions, or commutations to 2,108 individuals convicted in general, revolutionary, and military courts.

The clemency was granted on the occasion of the Shabaniyah holidays and the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
