Russia strikes Ukraine amid Geneva talks - Zelensky

The Russian military launched a massive strike on Ukraine on the day the talks in Geneva began.

Axar.az reports citing Interfax-Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in a video address on Tuesday.

"There were 29 missiles of various types, and 25 of them were shot down. Even on the day the next talks in Geneva - trilateral, bilateral, with America - began, Russia's response was with strikes. This very clearly demonstrates what Russia wants and what it is focused on. About 400 drones were also used," the Ukrainian leader emphasized.

At the same time, he declared that Ukraine was ready to refrain from strikes. "We do not need war. We always act adequately: we protect our state, our independence. We are also ready to move quickly towards a decent agreement on the end of the war," he said.

In addition, Zelensky drew attention to the fact that all Russian missiles and drones used today contain thousands of foreign-made components. He stressed the importance of partners effectively blocking the supply chains of components that are critical for Russia in the production of weapons, not only for Ukraine, but also for global security as a whole.

It should be noted that today, the first day of the next round of talks between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine in Switzerland ended.
