The Trump administration is reportedly closer than many realize to launching a major military operation against Iran. Unlike last month’s precision strike in Venezuela, a U.S. attack on Iran could be a full-scale, weeks-long campaign, likely conducted jointly with Israel and targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities and broader regime infrastructure, Axios reported.
Axar.az informs that diplomatic efforts continue, with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff meeting Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Geneva.
While both sides report “progress,” U.S. officials see wide gaps, and Vice President Vance stressed that diplomacy may have “reached its natural end” if Iran refuses to meet Trump’s nuclear red lines.
The U.S. military presence in the Middle East has surged, with two aircraft carriers, dozens of warships, hundreds of fighter jets, and multiple air defense systems deployed. Over 150 cargo flights have moved weapons and ammunition, and another 50 fighter jets were sent in the past 24 hours. Sources say the Trump administration could launch strikes within weeks if talks fail, with Israel also preparing for rapid military action.
It is worth noting that U.S. military presence in the region has recently expanded significantly, including two aircraft carriers, about ten warships, hundreds of fighter jets, and several air defense systems.
