The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has information about a planned assassination attempt against Colombian senator and presidential candidate Ivan Cepeda.
Axar.az informs that Colombian President Gustavo Petro made the statement.
“The CIA already has the real and concrete data on a possible attack against candidate Ivan Cepeda. In Colombia, threats are everywhere, but information about real plans must be neutralized in advance,” Petro said.
Petro did not provide further details about the alleged plot. However, he thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for supporting free elections in Colombia.
It should be noted that Colombia’s presidential election is scheduled for May 31. Petro is not eligible to run for a second term.
